Abstract: The paper deals with some aspects of the relationship between history of mathematics and mathematics education. Attention is paid to the importance of integrating elements of history of mathematics in preparation of prospective mathematics teachers. The emphasis is put on personal experience from teaching the university course history of mathematics for prospective teachers and implementation of elements of mathematics history in calculus courses for prospective mathematics teachers. We primarily focus on infinite series because this concept is mysterious and intriguing.
