Abstract: The text of the paper presents an empirical probe focused on the student's relationship to mathematics, where the emphasis is primarily on differences in the perception of this subject in boys and girls. It turns out that in many areas (fear of testing, preparation for the subject, etc.) the differences are significant. The items in which they express the positive attitude of the girl usually concern the appreciation of the importance of mathematics, the relationship to geometry and work with aids. Thus, these are not relational items in the sense of "I like mathematics", but rather items dealing with the evaluation of the subject as such, work with aids and teachers, which girls usually do not evaluate as someone who would positively affect their relationship to mathematics. On the contrary, boys have a better relationship with the subject, compared to girls, they are less afraid of school evaluation in mathematics, written tests or counting in front of the blackboard.
