Abstract: In our article we focused on math word problems, which solution does union of sets with non-empty intersection characterize. The research sample was the first year students of Preschool and Elementary Education at The Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, master level. There were three tasks, which were solved by students. The context of tasks was different but the solving of these tasks was very similar and it can be represented by one general solution scheme. From all students´ solutions we chose six, which represent the most frequently algebraic or graphical errors within our sample solutions. So we made some word analysis and error diagnostics of these solutions.
