Abstract: In our article we present a particular output of the research which was focused on the application of interdisciplinary connections as well as critical thinking. One of the learning situations inspired by information from media was analyzed. The contribution indicates how 5th grade pupils of primary school can explore mutual connections of different disciplines on a suitable everyday life situations and problems, while applying already acquired mathematical knowledge.
