Abstract: In this article we focused on inquiry-based learning and its use in mathematical education. Inquiry-based learning can also be applied in a broader, multidisciplinary context. Teacher presents the problem and the pupil finds the answers by inquiry activity. We describe a specific problem of geometry at lower secondary school, which is related to the spatial imagination of pupils. We specify particular activity appropriate to the age of the child, which we have included in the educational process. We use guided inquiry and group work of students on a given problem. Inquiry activity was also realized in school practice. Therefore, we also present specific observations and opinions of mathematics teachers at lower secondary school.
