Abstract: This paper presents two innovative applications of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in mathematics education for pre-service primary teachers: AI-generated educational podcasts and a personalized AI assistant. These tools were introduced in university courses to help students overcome negative attitudes and low confidence in mathematics. Both were designed with a strong focus on pedagogical clarity, using generative AI (large language models) to create content that is accurate, accessible, and responsive to students’ needs. Preliminary feedback from nearly 100 students suggests that these AI-based supports enhance understanding, reduce stress, and increase motivation. The study highlights AI’s potential to extend the teacher’s reach by offering accessible and personalized learning support, while reinforcing critical thinking and learner independence. A mixed-methods research project is currently underway to systematically evaluate the impact of these tools on students’ mathematical mindset and professional readiness.
